The Fall Writer-Webmaster: November 2024 Editorial
A look back at the early weeks of fall and the editorial planning for W+M’s 2025 content direction.
The Writer-Webmaster of Autumn
Yes! Here, the musical notes blend with the clacking of keyboard keys and the clicking of knitting needles.
The first weeks of autumn at W+M were focused on defining the content direction for 2025, especially choosing the themes and writing the monthly columns of #itSAMarketingThing, our digital marketing series for startups, entrepreneurs, and small businesses.
Side 1, Side 2, Side 1, Side 2... Eject
Writing all 12 columns ahead of time turned into an immersive content research sprint, with a little help from my old collection of 80s hard rock cassettes.
For someone who loves to learn and discover new things daily in the marketing world, writing is a moment of creative flow. And after that comes the pleasure, and a few weekends, of programming it all.
Prepare, But Stay Current
Writing in advance is a form of preparation — but that doesn’t mean the content goes live untouched. Every piece is reviewed, updated, and refined to reflect current trends and news when the time comes to publish.
Who wants to post outdated advice?
Over time, and especially when working with tight deadlines or editorial calendars, writing ahead of time has helped me avoid last-minute panic. I’ve officially said goodbye to the all-nighters fueled by endless cups of coffee.
Planning in advance lets me handle more projects at once — but of course, every writer has their own creative method and rhythm.
The W+M Editorial Plan for 2025
After reviewing this year’s website analytics last month, we confirmed that the monthly marketing articles were among the most popular content in 2024. So they’re back for 2025, stronger than ever!
I'm excited to share the upcoming topics and to officially present the full concept of It’s A Marketing Thing.
Enjoy your reading — and here’s to a productive month ahead.
