Web Policies - Monthly Ticket - March 2024
A look at all the policies and information that need to be disclosed in e-commerce for businesses in Québec, Canada.
Hello,
The month of March, Daylight Saving Time, and the beginning of Spring. It’s also the time of the big clean-up, including the dusted virtual chamber of policies. Well, in Quebec, several reasons have pushed companies to review their policies over the past two years, from privacy to cybersecurity.
The Marketing Blog is dedicating the month of March to web documents and policies, to make, or at least prepare, our web tools with quality documents to protect all users, including the publishing company and its employees.
This month’s article offers ideas for a Privacy Policy, User Guidelines (the Terms and Conditions), a Cookie Warning Policy for analysis purposes, and the notion of disclaimer when commenting from third-party readers and editors.
Of course, the Monthly Tix also features #itSAMarketingThing column on low-cost marketing dealing with the popularity of corporate social media, and the webmaster column, Office News, which features the press and media section for websites.
Have a great Marketing Month Lovers!

Website Policies – Posting Site and Blog
Creating a simple website or a blog, where we publish articles with a commenting section for readers, comes the time to put online a User Policy to regulate the behaviour to adopt when publishing, and the rights and disclaimer of third-party content and the elements that protect the content of our websites and their limitations of liability.
To demystify this, I suggest looking at the elements required in a posting or blog website policy, which is the first site that is usually put online.
Also, the second part of the web policy reports demonstrates the steps to follow when including a subscription list via an email distribution system, like MailChimp.
Note that these examples of website policies are intended for companies operating in the territory of Quebec, Canada. If your company’s head office isn’t in Quebec, I advise you to check your government’s website to check the e-commerce laws of your region or country, and the privacy and responsibilities of your website publisher.
Website Policies and Rules Reports - Part 1
Web Policies for Display Sites and Blogs
In the process of creating a website or a blog, where we publish articles, comes the time to put online the policy that will regulate the behavior of readers who comments articles, as well as the rights of disclaimer of third-party content, along with the elements that protect the content of our websites and their limitations of liability.
Let's look at the required elements of the regular website policy or a blog that publishes articles with supporting materials (images, clips, music, and other original article support).
This report features:
Review the essential web policies every professional site should include.
Understand how policies support customer trust and online credibility.
Start building your policies with a simple and tailored approach.
And now that's a well-politicized blog! The next step would normally be to integrate a subscription system into this blog. I'll share it all with you in a future report.
So now, you need to add a mailing list to this Blog? Look at the Report 2.
Website Policies and Rules Reports - Part 2
Sites with a Mailing List and Contact Forms
In the process of creating a website, there comes a time when we need to offer more contact options to our visitors and find ways to increase website engagement and visibility.
The implementation of a Contact Form and a member subscription system to send incentive emails are usually the steps to follow in the launch and evolution of the corporate website.
Of course, these operations require an adjustment of usage and privacy policies and rights and laws must be respected. Let's take a look at the elements required in this article:
Learn how a clear refund policy builds trust with your audience.
Understand what to include in a privacy policy that meets current standards.
Explore practical examples to help you write accessible and useful policies.
And here we are with a website in good standing, offering a member service by email to receive articles, news, and other successful recipes.
And since you're becoming very popular, it's only natural that the next step in your virtual evolution is to offer an invoiced service via your website. Well, that's what the next report on website policies is about!
Website Policies and Rules Reports - Part 3
Site Offering Service With Contract Billing
Whether you decide to offer professional services, either by starting a small business or part-time by carrying out bill-based contracts, displaying your talents on a website will surely be necessary in the future.
When we start displaying our services in the virtual world, we must equip ourselves with good digital tools, including a website with the legal concepts to be disclosed. This paper on professional site policies with contractual invoicing will help you.
This report features:
Understand why terms and conditions are essential to protect your online business.
Learn how to create a clear and reassuring shipping policy for your customers.
Get practical tips to write simple, effective policies tailored to your business.
I hope these reports on web policies are useful and you will have nice terms of use and company policies to display for your visitors.
I must admit I always feel better when I know my web policies are in order. I review them yearly during my web audits. We sometimes forget to adjust the policies when integrating a new toll on our sites.
The chronicle of different and low-cost marketing for startups, businesses and entrepreneurs. It’s a marketing story is told every month in the Monthly Ticket Magazine.
The Opening of The Commerce
Column #itSAMarketingThing 3: Socials - Popularity Will Come.
As an extension of last month’s Monthly Tix on the first corporate social and the beginning of the opening of a professional page, the low-cost marketing column is about the popularity of new social accounts.
Starting an account isn’t easy. After the page is advertised and subscribed by current customers, friends, and family, the number of new members may seem stagnant. This is a normal situation and don’t panic. Instead, focus on subscribers. Start networking by searching for nearby business accounts and introduce yourself, or look for alternative products and services and join the discussions. Take the opportunity to publish a series of articles featuring role-plays, meetings and testimonials from your customers and employees.
There are, of course, paid services and you will be amply invited to join them. However, it can be expensive to use the paid resources of social platforms to increase the popularity of your posts and accounts and be aware that many more users hate this manipulation. It’s therefore necessary to use these services sparingly and I invite you to make an informed choice and think about your reputation, in the short, medium and long term.
Budget: $0, time to research and prepare social media posts and subscriptions to our social platforms” special offer services to use their discount.
Tip: The use of hashtags in your social posts, but also for the search for companies and prospects with the same interests, is very useful to us, especially when looking for prospects, sponsors or suppliers. Of course, let’s use the right hashtags representing our company. I invite you to test it, for your next 10 publications: do a 2-minute search for the best hashtags on the topic of your publication according to this principle: 3 specialized hashtags of the subject of your publication + 3 specialized hashtags of your company, or service or product (usually your best keywords: agency, marketing, digital) + 2 localization hashtag + 2 various trending hashtags (e.g., TBT [Throwback Thursday], #commerceLocal, etc.).
Tip: Also remember to check for special offers and subscribe your email to Business Services. I’ll give us an example with LinkedIn. I’ll give us an example with LinkedIn, which offers a free month of using their professional service, or Google giving discounts for ads in search tools. These two tricks, when used at the right times, a goal plan to achieve and a good well-prepared campaign, will give you a lot of details about your first audiences. Valuable information that we can all acquire affordably and that we will use when thinking about a big-budget paid marketing strategy. You know, marketing is first and foremost a study, the study of customers, prospects and the market, then taking an action. I advise us to know our market and audience well before even meeting with a marketing professional and thus establish adequate and effective campaigns.
I’m ending this marketing column by inviting you to subscribe to the W+M Services social media.

Press Room and Media Section on Websites
Webmaster Column - Office News - No 3
Yes, last month, the website went on a shopping run for a new evening and press conference outfit. I believe that this is due to the creation of new pages in the Footer Section dedicated to the press, the media and the gallery of official corporate images to content producers. Here is the webmaster column of the month: the press and media section.
Material Disclosure Sections
Hello,
I am often asked when, in the process of starting a business, you should plan to make a section for the press and the media on a website. And my answer is still: since yesterday!
Let me explain as soon as the identity of the company is created virtually, whether it is through the publication of a first website, the first page of a social media or even an application, it is in our interest to create a virtual press room to refer media requests and to disclose official material, company images and logos and other presentation documents. Why not use this additional promotion opportunity?
Organization of the Press Section
A well-defined press and media section will enhance your image and virtual representation, in addition to streamlining your material distribution and email response operations, while allowing every journalist, communications and marketing workers to quickly access your official and corporate information, news and press releases, and especially your images and logo. These images are often needed in the publication of news and current affairs in the media.
If you only knew how many times a day news editors must come up with images and visuals to publish articles. Believe me, when I receive a press release with a link to an updated media section with images to easily put online in a few minutes. You know, everyone likes to work with a well-organized team or company, and in the field of communications, that means to provide elements that facilitate the distribution of the information, with news, images and sections for the press and media members.
Sample of a Presentation for the Media
The media section of the website of my personal website, created last week, is simple and the design is neutral and unpretentious. It was programmed in a literary style for a product intended for the arts and entertainment. It includes a presentation of the musical project, a bio of the artist, contact and booking elements and important information and dates for the rest of the project.
However, it can serve as a template for any business, product, and service, since the information in this section to the media is generally the same, regardless of your company’s market orientation.
List of Elements of an Effective Media Material Distribution Section
With all due respect to my communications colleagues, sometimes the job and deadlines force us to cut corners… Receiving a well-published press release makes a big difference! That’s why my intention, when I write material for the media, is to give them something ready to use, and in addition, I always add two more links of information that will make the life of each journalist or news publisher and distributor easier. I know I’m a friendly media kind.
I want my communications world to be pampered when they work with me. You know, podcast hosts, content creators, and web editors of multiple news features a day, especially for print media, can’t always wait for your reply email to obtain an official image before publishing. Sometimes editors have to choose a generic image to meet deadlines and oops, your announcement punches and your brand image just took a hit, or rather missed it! I invite all of us to make life easier for communications members. This doesn’t mean offering them tickets and picking them up by taxi to your event, but providing them organized tools, adequate images and texts, to help promote your product. That’s what a virtual press room does. Don’t worry, media members will have all they need to publish your news. Also remember press editors will adore you when you send your press releases, knowing that you’re organized!
Well, now that being said… you know, you can send me rock band concert tickets if you want. I can even pretend to be famous, no prob. ;)
Here are the elements I suggest in your web page for the media and members of the press:
Your page title and 20-word advertising text
A blurb or a résumé, usually the same as the press release.
Website and Social Media Links
A list or gallery of projects
The section of official images and logos. Note that I present photos that are already the size required for most social media and each image is available in French and English versions.
The company’s general information section. Here, for this art project, it is a biography, but the history and mission of the company are usually written in this section.
The useful links section, i.e., links to additional information that will help visitors understand your business, the slogan and hashtags, what to follow to stay up to date on your project and a resource person for your media requests.
