From the first week of January, my freelance web and digital marketing services will be open to offer you 3 types of professional services: webmaster, social and content creation!

And yes, 2024 represents a significant challenge for me, I am completely moving towards business and public services and no longer in private work mode for a single company. The year 2024 will be a return to basics for my part.

Webmaster = web editing, writing and design

I edit the content of existing sites via your CMS. I build sites with Wordpress and Squarespace. I produce website’s content, images and campaigns. I am a professional webmaster since 1998. I help companies get their first website and I improve the performance of existing sites.

I am Mr. Analysis and my reaction time to new development in digital marketing is daily, which allows my clients optional tools at the cutting edge of trends and tips.

A day in the life of a webmaster: I program contents, pictures, articles and items on websites. I create new pages and e-mails membership content. I write websites policies, conditions of use and privacy politics. I adapt websites to the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) technics. Daily websites performance analysis and client behavior studies. Edit and programming verification, testing and system updates.



Socials management = writing, publishing and advertising

I manage social media and customer service in my related activities as a webmaster. I do research and various composition. I manage targeted advertising and analyze the market. I have been running professional social media since 2005. I am used to working with new businesses to help them build their social identity and use their first social media.

I have to admit, I'm also a big fan of social media and I use it daily in my personal life. This medium of communication did not exist when I did my first studies in the 90s. I fell madly in love with Facebook, then Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and others, studying the sales possibilities with the arrival of each new social media. I am innovative and want to be among the first users of each platform to take advantage of sales opportunities.

A day in the life of a Socials Manager: On a daily basis, a social media manager makes publications and manages post-publication networking. I program campaigns, events and boutique products. I do market research and competition checking. I write the presentation of company accounts, CVs and folio for general information of social accounts. I have experience writing and managing multiple social media outlets at the same time.

And of course, the optimization according to today's SEO techniques. I have been writing and edit digital content since 1998. I write on average more than 10,000 words, translated, in my professional activities every week. And even more.

Coming from the Media Communications (ATM) sector, my writing must respect the principle of journalistic writing, information researched, verified and verifiable. This is a fundamental principle for me, there is no way I want misleading people; the virtual medium can produce many harmful effects when wrong information is shared.

A day in the life of a digital writer: Reading, researching articles and information, composing and publishing. I also write promotional campaigns for products and services at the same time as the sales composition, which improves the usability of the material produced.

Once the material is produced, it must be adorned with visuals, slogans and natural referencing (SEO) methods that I also produce on demand according to the image dimensions of social networks and websites. I even offer music tracks of original material. As you can read, nothing is left to chance in content design and marketing promo with me.

Column 1: Promote a professional presentation

For this first column on budget marketing, I wanted to explain how I went about promoting the presentation of the website last fall, because marketing does not necessarily involve fees to present yourself virtually. 

The first Professional Presentation to the public

Here is the latest video to promote the W+M Webmaster Services. In this ticket, I present to you the other side of the scene, the preparation of the promotional campaign for this professional presentation. 

 

This promotion of W+M Services was in November 2023, following the presentation of an exceptional event that I had the pleasure of working on: Le Salon Industriel de Terrebonne 2023. This announcement was intended to make my services known as a freelance webmaster following the success of the event. 

 

The important thing is to have an anchor point to send readers, visitors, customers, prospects and possible employees or employers to. Although as a marketing professional with the word statistics in mind, I would tend to convince you to have an electronic redirection location, such as the reader's landing place on a web page or a dedicated html page is ideal, a PDF document, your email address, the About page or your LinkedIn account is quite possible. 

Also, once the text is composed, this type of presentation is not the kind of post scheduled in advance as a simple wish of Happy Canada Day on our social networks.  Our presentation and its publications need to be prepared and harmonized to create our identity. These are posts that we will encourage people to comment, share and use for the next few weeks.  

Preparation of the presentation text 

When I make a business presentation text, the first thing I do is study the target customer market, the competitors and their location(s), the key people in the media in the field (influencers are part of this category now) and the company's display status locations. It's my doodling moment. The result will be a sheet with a list of competitors and resources as well as the keywords. 

I then list all the company's displays with the dimensions of the media promo images in parentheses to produce a visual everywhere and have an overall image for the campaign. This list will look like this: 

  • Website, French, English and bilingual version (1200x630 and 500x500) 

  • Physical address, bilingual version (3 posters and 3 8 1/2 x11 cards) 

  • Pick-up counter (business card, one French and one English format) 

  • Product packaging - logo to be sent for printing promotional material (bags and boxes) 

  • Envelope and sales document - logo to be provided for printing promotional material (logo with addressing) 

  • Facebook, bilingual version (1200x360 publication and 2400x2400 profile) 

  • Instagram, bilingual version (1080x1080 post and 1080x1920 story) 

You therefore have all the places where you need to prepare, if necessary, a presentation communication, as well as the visual to be made with the sizes. 

The power of sharing   

The power of sharing in our product launches should not be underestimated and I always suggest this before even thinking about putting a budget for promotion.  

Of course, take care to choose your publication time carefully and don't take time off right after the event, because you will have to quickly switch to networking mode once your campaign is published.

Starting the New Year with the presentation of the

Several adjustments have been made over the last month to the website. Particular attention was paid to the basic locations of the pages and the website in general, in order to better meet the criteria of the algorithms of the search tools, at the expense of design and personal choices. Don't make a website for visitors first, right?


The Footer INDEX

Since the jeffmaheux.com site offers 3 types of services, it is important to create sections, to have a branding image for each service and to highlight the 3 sections in common areas of the site, for a better understanding of the visitor.

The footer menu, which is generally displayed via the site structure for all pages, becomes a place of choice and putting a website map is the best option for this site, which has web pages and web articles, with 2 different option showing.

The Footer, which usually contain the company information, the terms and policies, and retention links (so the visitor can return to the site easily, like the social media links and mailing subscriptions).

Also, remember the footer is an important structure for search tools (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc), so its content needs to be impeccable: no mistake, no bad links, no error pages at anytime.

 
 

Blog Categories and Tags

In order to demonstrate the extent of the library and the main topics of the blog articles, categories and tags have also been added to the Footer menu for each language.

In addition, the titles of the categories and tags are the keywords of the website, which will help with SEO.

I worked a lot, and still, with article tags and categories, often editing for print media. My advice for maintaining good efficiency with these display grouping features is to keep them up to date. Remove tags and categories which are no longer used, becoming boring for the reader.

Tip: I also review the names of tags and categories annually to adjust to the new vocabulary and expression of the year. Moreover, tag change announcements are usually popular posts on socials, bringing a lot of comments.

For the reader, an effective grouping should link to a choice of several articles. The best is to have at least the next page tab showing, indicating daily activity of the tag or category. Remember also, for the reader, an empty tag equals a frustrated reader, that is simple as that.

I finish be saying empty cat or tags will decrease the reading average of your pages in your stats. So in short, you have to manage categories and tags like a public library, everything in its place and in order, for a good reading habit and for everyone to find their book.

However, when your grouping system works, it will serve you well on the visit returns and your readers will appreciate it, in addition to SEO advantages. That’s why all the media in the world use them on their site.

Desert,a song written on March 1, 2002 on the bus. I was on my way to the studio to record the vocals for this musical composition I had been dragging around for several months. All music tracks we’re recorded. I had the chorus melody in mind ( ... and I would never have to suffer) without being able to put words into it. I would then hum this phrase because once I had found the lyrics, I would no longer have to suffer,, as a joke. The final lyrics were written in the last 10 minutes of the ride when I had to find something to sing when I arrived. I was then all alone on the long busride, felt like a desert. Nothing was touched again once recorded. I figured if Debbie Harry had dropped her amazing One Way to Another hidden in the bathroom at the last minute, my Desert would do the job for a demo. The instrumental version was used for the first time to the public during the launch campaign of the jeffmaheux.com site in March 2018, after being rejected from exclusive prod rights.
