Hello,

The month of March, Daylight Saving Time, and the beginning of Spring. It is also the time of the big clean-up, including the dusted virtual chamber of policies. Well, in Quebec, several reasons have pushed companies to review their policies over the past two years, from privacy to cybersecurity.

The Marketing Blog is dedicating the month of March to web documents and policies, to make, or at least prepare, our web tools with quality documents to protect all users, including the publishing company and its employees.

This month's article offers ideas for a Privacy Policy, User Guidelines (the Terms and Conditions), a Cookie Warning Policy for analysis purposes, and the notion of disclaimer when commenting from third-party readers and editors.

Of course, the Monthly Tix also features #itSAMarketingThing column on low-cost marketing dealing with the popularity of corporate social media, and the webmaster column, Office News, which features the press and media section for websites.

MusicScore: And since it is not always easy to read and work on legal material, I recommend accompanying your reading with music that talks about chocolate, to make us smile again, or wake up a few in their serious reading. Here is Chocolate Cake from Crowded House!

The Monthly Ticket of March 2024 features the web policies and laws for the virtual sales tools like websites and applications. Have a great time reading the first reports.

Website Policies – Posting Site & Blog

In the process of creating a simple website or a blog, where we publish articles with a commenting section for readers, comes the time to put online an User Policy to regulate the behavior to adopt when publishing, as well as the rights of disclaimer of third-party content and the elements that protect the content of our own websites and their limitations of liability.

To demystify this, I suggest looking at the elements required in a posting or blog website policy, which is the first type of site that is usually put online.

In addition, the second part of the web policy reports demonstrates the steps to follow when including a subscription list via an email distribution system, like MailChimp.

Note that these examples of website policies are intended for companies operating in the territory of Quebec, Canada. If your company's head office is not in Quebec, I advise you to check your government's website to check the e-commerce laws of your region or country, as well as the privacy and responsibilities of your website publisher.

Web Policies – Part 1 – Display Websites and Blogs

This article offers you an example of a website policy for companies located in Quebec with a posting website or a blog, without a subscription system.

Monthly Partner Advertising

The chronicle of different and low-cost marketing for startups, businesses and entrepreneurs. It’s a marketing story is told every month in the Monthly Ticket of the Marketing Blog.

Chronicle 3: Popularity Will Come

As a continuation of last month 's Monthly Tix on the first corporate social and the beginning of the opening of a professional page, the low-cost marketing column is about the popularity of new social accounts.

Starting an account isn't easy. After the page is advertised and subscribed by current customers, friends, and family, the number of new members may seem stagnant. This is a normal situation and don't panic. Instead, focus on subscribers. Start networking by searching for nearby business accounts and introduce yourself, or look for complementary products and services and join the discussions. Take the opportunity to publish a series of articles featuring role-plays, meetings and testimonials from your customers and employees.

There are, of course, paid services and you will be amply invited to join them. However, it can be expensive to use the paid resources of social platforms to increase the popularity of your posts and accounts and be aware that many more users hate this kind of misrepresentation. It is therefore necessary to use these services sparingly and I invite you to make an informed choice and think about your reputation, in the short, medium and long term.

Budget: $0, time to research and prepare social media posts and subscriptions to our social platforms' special offer services to use their discount.

Tip: The use of hashtags in your social posts, but also for the search for companies and prospects with the same interests, is very useful to us, especially when looking for prospects, sponsors or suppliers. Of course, let's use the right hashtags representing our company. I invite you to test it, for your next 10 publications: do a 2-minute search for the best hashtags on the specific topic of your publication according to this principle: 3 specialized hashtags of the subject of your publication + 3 specialized hashtags of your company, or service or product (usually your best keywords: agency, marketing, digital) + 2 localization hashtags + 2 various trending hashtags (e.g. TBT (Throwback Thursday), #commerceLocal, etc.).

Tip: Also remember to check for special offers and subscribe your email to Business Services. I'll give us an example with LinkedIn. I'll give us an example with LinkedIn, which offers a free month of using their professional service, or Google giving discounts for ads in search tools. These two tricks, when used at the right times, a goal plan to achieve and a good well-prepared campaign, will give you a lot of details about your first audiences. Valuable information that we can all acquire inexpensively and that we will use when thinking about a big-budget paid marketing strategy. You know, marketing is first and foremost a study, the study of customers, prospects and the market, and then taking an action. I advise us to know our market and audience well before even meeting with a marketing professional and thus establish adequate and effective campaigns.

I'm ending this marketing column by inviting you to subscribe to the W+M Services social media.

The Webmaster Serie

The News of the Web & Marketing Services

Yes, last month, the website went on a shopping run for a new evening and press conference outfit. I believe that this is due to the creation of new pages in the Footer Section dedicated to the press, the media and the gallery of official corporate images to content producers. Here is the webmaster column of the month: the press and media section.

Organization of the press section

A well-defined press and media section will enhance your image and virtual representation, in addition to streamlining your material distribution and email response operations, while allowing every journalist, communications and marketing member to quickly access your official corporate information, news and press releases. and especially to your images and logo, often in order in the publication of news and current affairs in the media on every news distribution site.

Sample Media Presentation

The media section of the website you are visiting is simple and the design is neutral and unpretentious. It was programmed in a literary style for a product intended for the arts and entertainment. It includes a presentation of the musical project, a bio of the artist, contact and booking elements and important information and dates for the rest of the project.

However, it can serve as a template for any business, product, and service, since the information in this section to the media is generally the same, regardless of your company's market orientation.

List of Elements of an Effective Media Material Distribution Section

Here are the elements I suggest in your webpage for media and members of the press:

  • Your page title and 20-word advertising text

  • A blurb or a résumé, usually the same as the press release.

  • Website & Social Media Links

  • A list or gallery of projects

  • The section of official images and logos. Note that I present photos that are already the size required for most social media and each image is available in French and English versions.

  • The company's general information section. Here, for this art project, it is a biography, but the history and mission of the company are usually written in this section.

  • The useful links section, i.e. links to additional information that will help understand your business, the slogan and hashtags, what to follow to stay up to date on your project and a resource person for your media requests.

I'll end this column by inviting you to visit my media section and let me know what you think of this virtual newsroom: https://www.jeffmaheux.com/media-en.
