Hello,

I've been patiently waiting for several weeks before starting this monthly Ticket writing, dedicated to corporate social media. Although I am a webmaster, my profession has always been colored by the implementation of social networks on digital tools, which I would then have to manage, often being the only one who understood the functioning of the CMS and social media app, while having the skills in communications and media. 

This is how, from one implementation to the next, I learned the use of several social networks, as well as their proper use at the time of launch businesses by working for, and with, startups, producers of events, shows, tours and even sports teams and international events marketing departments. #AdmissionNetwork90, Mtl.

Corporate social in 2024, how to get the facts straight?

When I cleaned up old laptops at the end of the year, I re-read the article Your Socials are watching, on corporate image in social media. Written before the pandemic, I wondered if the presentation of new companies on social media had changed and what evolved over the past few months. Doing searches, I couldn't find a satisfactory answer. I couldn't test the whole thing on my existing social with followers. What do I do? 

Since November 2023, I have created new social for my freelance webmaster service, which I have named Services W+M (web + marketing): Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube, Tik Tok, X and Tumblr! 

I have since studied the whole thing to present a follow up report about opening new social media for startups, i.e. a company launching in its first two years of operation in Quebec, Canada.

Content Marketing Through Social Media 

With the trend of social marketing and sale strategy in Socials, associated with the customer accessibility of consumer comments and opinions in the virtual marketplace, it was normal to discuss about the use of social in our brand representation methods at the beginning of 2024. It’s a major change in many marketing strategies. Socials are also, in general, directly associated with the sales number for new startups and entrepreneurs with restricted budget. 

When starting, you don't need to have multiple social medias in your entrepreneurial journey, unless your field, like my freelancing service I do, requires you to demonstrate expertise in using multiple social platforms. My advice is always to focus on the operations and management of one social at a time. 

Also, in the Your Social are watching reports, I use Facebook as an example, but your business may need an account on a different platform with exclusive content, such as videos of your equipment, manufacturing process, or machine tool in action, where a YouTube channel would be much more useful for your upcoming business than posts on a Facebook page. 

Use the main points of these two reports to apply the actions on your new social media, the one that will suit your project and how your content will allow you to differentiate yourself from your competitors. In the end, no matter which social media app you choose, there will always be a user-friendly guide to get you started, as well as Google to find articles that will advise you on the winning trends to follow. Cause we all know, GIYBF.

The company presentation period: 1 year 

So, as you can see, the new social accounts of the W+M Services have been completed with basic information about a company and introductory messages and publications have been circulating for a few weeks with hashtags appropriate to the content of the message. 

 
 

Hashtags... Let me explain. I didn't use hashtags like #LikeMe or #Like4Like to get higher number of followers or posts popularity. Instead, I used popular hashtags representing the keywords of the company's products and services, which looks more professional according to popular opinion. Of course, again, there are companies that will have reasons to use this type of boosting hashtags, but debating the reputation of social popularity-boosting acts is not the purpose of this article. 

Since November 2023, no money has been invested to promote social accounts. The period of company presentation and the opening of social accounts does not yet allow you to invest in paid promotion for the moment to make known, or to promote, subscriptions. What would be the subscription percentage of your campaigns, and especially how much will it cost you by clicks and really become prospects with new social accounts of 3 publications, a clip and a website to promote your new business? It may be too soon for marketing when you’re clearly at the stage of communicating and presenting your project with restricted budget.

Chronicle 2: The opening and the presentation to the neighbourhood 

Just because we use the virtual market doesn't mean you should forget good manners and not introduce yourself to physical neighbors and the neighborhood! 

Yes, a good way to start the process of presenting a business to the public is to introduce yourself to your market, take the time to research potentially profitable contacts, and introduce yourself or use an introductory email and a redirect link, such as a new restaurant that distributes discount leaflets in the mail. 

I like to receive a member request from a new business neighbor. I find it very nice, but without the pressure of having to respond a long response. A simple subscription to the Facebook account in return and a reply email introducing my corporate mission is perfect for a start to neighborhood networking. Remember that a presentation communication for your new startup is not a pressure sales request, don't alienate your whole neighborhood already! This is only a presentation process and an overview of the beginning of prospecting in the case of positive feedback. 

I always suggest this kind of presentation in the public presentation process. This is economical than paying a marketing campaign when your audience is only at the real beginning of its development. Think about communication and information disclosure before you think about investing in a marketing project if your business has a limited budget. Meet one or two digital advertising professionals in your field to guide your first paid publications, you will save more money this way, than a large and paying marketing campaign, like in the 90’s, unless you’re already millionaire. In addition, several services offer free prospecting. 

Budget: $0, but time investment. Presentation document: prepare the visual and write the general presentation text to create a global brand image of the company in a document. The text of your document will serve at the time to start your social and your website, so it is a good investment of time. In general, company information should be the same across all your devices and digital tools for the public. 

Tools: all the elements to create a presentation document, a presentation email, and a signature, such as Canva to create your images, the Office tools to create a .pdf, and a map! Finally, for companies that send email communications with documents, since midnight on February 1, 2024, Google updated their Personalized ads policy and now request incoming email communications from web domains, no hotmail or gmail addresses. This means your attachment may be not delivered. You may have to send links instead of putting a document in attachment until you have your domain. An IT service will help you, but the communication from Google is clear for web workers. Plan this so that your communications don't end up in spam. 2024 is a challenging year for marketers, isn't it? 

Yes, the point of the exercise of presentation is to go around the neighborhood, in person or virtually, and write to businesses in your professional neighborhood to introduce yourself and show your brand. Use Google Maps to locate websites and contacts and send an initial communication. This will allow you to start your prospect database. 

Shopping around social and business networking groups that match what you offer under your company's account, participating in conversations in exchanges, and creating your own group will also help your presence in your neighborhood and in the virtual marketplace.
